1
We start our excursion in Spanish from the terminal located in front of Hadrian’s Arch.
2
We will find the guide that will accompany us on this excursion with small groups (no more than 20 participants) and allows us to enjoy a personalized experience, as if it were a walk with family or friends, to discover with a professional guide, the treasures of the Acropolis.
3
We arrive at the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis, where our guide will explain and show you the temples and buildings that it houses. The Golden Age of Athens, is presented to us in the works of the time of Pericles, The Propylaea, the Ionic temple of Athena Nike, in memory of the victory over the Persians, the Erechtheion, original Ionic temple consecrated to the ancient divinities of Poseidon and Athena, the two gods who according to mythology disputed the protection of the city. And the Parthenon, symbol of Democratic Athens.
4
You will have free time to take pictures, enjoy the archaeological site at your own pace and appreciate wonderful views.
5
We also have the opportunity to visit the new museum of the Acropolis, which remains open until 22:00 hours and thus be able to see the famous sculptures of the Parthenon, the Caryatids and the art of the archaic era in an atmosphere of tranquility and soft lighting that highlights the beauty of the sculptures that this museum keeps. The building itself, as well as its structure and interior division, are a tribute and reflection of the classical architecture of the Parthenon. The pieces that are kept in it, are a mixture of originals and copies, especially of the reliefs of the friezes and the pediment of the temple of the Parthenon, without forgetting the famous caryatid still today in the British Museum in London or the Louvre Museum, in Paris. With these copies, it is clear the ideology and the intention that underlies this fantastic collection, it is the museum of the claim, of the memory of a spoliation, it is the museum of the absence of a heritage. Visitors will witness the history and evolution of the famous hill and its buildings through the preserved pieces.
