1
This private tour takes place in a private setting and starts from Athens early in the morning, heading towards the Sanctuary of Delphi, where you will enjoy a majestic and imposing landscape with its spectacular mountains, passing through the region of tragic Thebes, to the slopes of Mount Parnassus.
2
Under two gigantic cliffs, the Phaedriades, towering on a cliff of Mount Parnassus, the famous Oracle of Delphi was established in ancient times, where Apollo, the god of harmony and music, guardian of the sacred laws of Zeus, was worshipped. In ancient Greece, Delphi was considered the center of the world, the so-called “navel” of the Earth.
3
Upon arrival in Delphi, you will visit the Castalian Spring and the main archaeological site. Admire the Monument of the Kings, the Treasury of the Athenians, the Athenian Stoa, the Polygonal Wall, the Monument of Platea, and the Temple of Apollo. Enjoy the spectacular view from the site, which was once considered by the ancient Greeks as the center of the world.
4
Visiting the Delphi Museum is absolutely essential once you are at the archaeological site. It is one of the most important museums in Greece, housing in a simple and pleasant manner the artworks discovered in Delphi during excavations conducted by the French School of Athens. You will also see the famous statue of the Charioteer of Delphi, perfectly preserved. It dates back to the Archaic period and was part of a bronze votive offering representing the victorious quadriga from the Olympic Games.
5
On the way back to Athens, we will pass through the picturesque village of Arachova, built on the southern slope of Mount Parnassus. We will make a brief stop there for photo opportunities. Return to Athens at approximately 18:30 hours.
