ITINERARY

This private tour is conducted privately and starts from Athens early in the morning heading towards the magnificent structure of the Corinth Canal, located in the Peloponnese, the southern peninsula of Greece. The Corinth Canal connects the Aegean Sea with the Ionian Sea. A dream of the ancient world, it became a reality in 1893. Short stop for taking incredible photos of the Corinth Canal. If you’re lucky, you may witness a ship passing through the canal while a train crosses the bridge at the same time.

Leaving the Isthmus, we will arrive at Ancient Corinth, one of the most illustrious cities with the richest and most famous port in ancient Greece. To this megalopolis, the Apostle Paul arrived, worked, and established a thriving church. He later sent two of his epistles, which are now part of the New Testament. There is a church that has the first letter to the Corinthians written in four languages: Greek, Arabic, French, and English. We will visit the archaeological complex that includes the Agora, the Temple of Apollo, the Roman Forum, as well as other important temples and the museum.

Then we will visit Acrocorinth, a fortress that has been continuously enriched from the Neolithic period until the end of the Ottoman occupation in 1822.

We will continue to Nafplio, a beautiful port with Venetian influences, located on the east coast of the Gulf of Argolis. It was the first modern capital of Greece from 1821 to 1834. We will visit the impressive Palamidi Fortress, located 216 meters above sea level. It is remarkably well-preserved and stands as one of the greatest achievements of Venetian fortification. Built on the top of Mount Palamidi, this place is steeped in history and is named after the Homeric hero Palamides. According to legend, Palamides entertained his comrades with games during the siege of Troy. The fortress is also famous for being the place where the renowned Greek Revolution hero Theodoros Kolokotronis was imprisoned.

You will have free time to explore its charming pedestrian streets, browse through craft shops and contemporary Greek design stores, or relax at the outdoor terraces of restaurants and cafes. Return to Athens is expected at approximately 17:30 hours.
